Located in Hong Kong's Northern Metropolis near the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line and control points, the 87.7-hectare Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park (HSITP) combines with the neighboring Shenzhen Park to form the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Co-operation Zone. Backed by strong state support, this zone serves as a brand-new testbed for pilot cross-boundary policies, operating under the "One Country, Two Systems" framework according to the principle of "one zone, two parks" at "one river, two banks."
To evolve into a world-class I&T hub, HSITP is advancing in four strategic directions: building a world-class industry-academia-research platform, establishing an internationally competitive R&D transformation and pilot production base, pooling global innovation and technology resources, and cultivating a testing ground for institutional and policy innovation.
Guided by the basic principles of being free, open, connecting the Chinese Mainland with the world, and facilitating movement, HSITP will drive institutional innovation alongside plans by both the HKSAR and Shenzhen governments to implement measures for the convenient, cross-boundary flow of innovation elements. This development will roll out in batches, aiming to establish a highly efficient, synergistic innovation mechanism with the Shenzhen Park by 2030, and ultimately realize a comprehensive development pattern by 2035 that transforms the Co-operation Zone into a world-leading I&T hub.
